Working Groups
Heads of Regulatory Reporting Strategy
Purpose: To discuss and provide direction to the ABA to resolve common Regulatory Reporting issues on behalf of members.
Working Group Owner: Mitchell Frater-Baird
Housing
Purpose: To represent and advance the banking industries views on various housing related matters.
Human Rights
Purpose: Developing an industry position on the practical response to instances of Modern Slavery which are identified in ABA member banks. This includes within the bank’s supply chain; customer base; international cases; and national cases.
Working Group Owner: Amanda Pullinger
Insolvency and Bankruptcy
Purpose: Working group established to monitor current issues around bankruptcy and insolvency law and formulate ABA positions on reforms where appropriate.
Working Group Owner: Steve Blinkhorn
ISSB Sustainability and Climate Disclosures
Purpose: To identify and develop industry positioning on the introduction of climate disclosure standards
Liquidity
Purpose: To discuss issues and consultations on Prudential Standard APS 210 Liquidity and related liquidity matters.
Working Group Owner: Stephen Hallyburton
Mid-tier and International Bank Forum
Purpose: To provide an opportunity to non-majors to share information amongst themselves and with the ABA concerning the industry initiatives. It will also provide non-majors with a forum to test ideas before taking forward to the broader membership; information sharing between ABA and non-big banks regarding concerns and/or issues with implementation and operational issues; and to discuss design and implementation requirements for non-majors.
Working Group Owner: Craig Evans
Money Mules
Purpose: In line with Council recommendation, to consider and develop a proactive agenda on mules, rather than waiting for potential adverse regulatory responses. This will include the consideration of the following:
– Re-framing money muling as a national law and order issue
– Securing government action (including legislative/regulatory reforms and regional engagement)
– Continuing to consider further industry hygiene measures
ABA will bring forward a set of recommendations for consideration at the first WG meeting.

Natural Capital
Purpose: This working group will consider the incorporation of natural capital into banks operations. In particular, considering the requirements of the TNFD
Open Banking Policy
Purpose: This group comprises the policy leads of member banks for the rollout of the Consumer Data Right

Operational Resilience
Purpose: Represent and advance the banking industry’s views on APRA’s development of the new operational resilience regulations.

Payments
Purpose: Establishing ABA members’ position on payments regulation, payment types and new and evolving payments issues.

People & Culture
Purpose: The Chief People Officers of the member banks of the ABA. The terms of reference for the group include reviewing and sharing best practice on the following items during the pandemic:
– leave arrangements
– work from home arrangements
– employment law / IR matters
– branch staffing and safety
– staff wellbeing and connection
Working Group Owner: Vanessa Beggs
Professional Advice
Purpose: To bring together banking representives that engage on advice matters, and to coordinate submissions to government and regulators on this topic.
