COSBOA: Small Business Power Research Report

COSBOA have released a Small Business Power Research Report.
A third of SME’s reported they experienced energy hardship; a third of small businesses have delayed paying their energy bills. 1 in 5 small biz – have an energy service debt, the ratio use their personal credit card to pay energy bills.
The report presents a “small business perspectives on the effectiveness of COVID-19 energy protections and support”. The one pager is easy to digest.
Some key figures:
- 1 in 3 small businesses have experienced energy hardship;
- 1 in 5 small businesses have an energy service debt; and
- 1 in 5 small businesses used their personal credit card to pay energy bills.
Of note: surveys for the report were conducted in January and February 2022 and the report appears to have been finalised March.
The next few months may be challenging for small businesses as they start to receive their ‘winter bills’, which comes on top of covid, increases in input and wage prices, and natural disasters.
