21 September 2022
ABA Head of Member Services Dean Mamo met with UK Finance for two days, culminating in a in a face-to-face meeting with the Financial Conduct Authority at its Stratford offices.
UK Finance is the collective voice for the UK’s banking and finance industry. Representing over 300 firms across the industry, it acts to enhance competitiveness, support customers and facilitate innovation.
Key findings:
- Best practice – while both UK Finance and the ABA share a number of similarities, there is always an opportunity to learn from one another to ensure the best possible experience for our collective members.
- Building rapport – in this day and age of technological advances and the need to move swiftly, we were keen to hear how the ABA interacted with their regulators during the Covid-19 crisis and, subsequently, in the arena of sanctions following the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
- Common objectives – included the building of strong, stable and trusted financial services ecosystems in the UK and Australia, creating an environment that not only supports our members in current times, but for the future too.
- Advocacy – advocating at the highest levels of government and in the best interests of our members, through trusted and engaging business relationships and the ability to move swiftly.
